President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is confident that only after direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin will it be possible to end the war.
According to Ann.az, in an interview with German Bild, answering the question of what would be his response to the demand to accept the independence of Donbas and recognize that Crimea is Russian for the sake of peace, Zelensky said: "The question here is not what I can give."
Zelensky believes the war can be stopped only after a direct dialogue with the President of the Russian Federation based on mutual compromise.
"In every negotiation, my goal is to end the war with Russia. And I am also ready to take certain steps. Compromises can be made, but they should not be a betrayal of my country. And the opposite side must also be ready to make compromises, which is why they are called compromises. This is the only way we can get out of this situation. We cannot talk about the details yet. We have not yet had direct contact between the presidents. Only after direct negotiations between the two presidents can we put an end to this war," he said.
