Azerbaijan's State Security Service releases footage of the deputy minister's arrest (VIDEO)
The State Security Service (SSS) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has taken appropriate measures in order to protect historical and cultural monuments of the Azerbaijani people, to prevent illegal actions of some officials in their interests, which harm the legally protected interests of the state in this area, the press service of the SSS told Ann.az.

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Bayramov Rafig Yasin oglu and the Chief of the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture Sultanov Zakir Imran oglu deliberately abused their positions. There were reports that they committed numerous illegal acts.

During the inspection by State Security Service on May 8 of 2020, based on the decision of the court, in the service and residence addresses of Rafig Bayramov and Zakir Sultanov various notes on the amounts of money received by the officials of Ministry of Culture, money kept in different currencies, other documents and material evidence important for the case were found and confiscated.

 Over the ongoing criminal case, information obtained regarding giving consent to the use of official powers in exchange for material interest for the reconstruction of buildings with a special architectural style, considered cultural heritage, is being investigated. 

On the criminal case conducted in the State Security Service, due to the facts of abuse of duty authorities, absorption, and duty forgery Rafig Bayramov and facts of abuse of duty authorities and absorption Zakir Sultanov, convicted with the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, have been brought to responsibility and a warrant issue has been released on them in accordance with a court decision.

Currently, investigations are underway.
