The enemy has attempted to aggravate the situation in the Tovuz direction starting from July 12, head of press service of the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan Vagif Dargahli told journalists, Ann.az reports.
He noted that the Defense Ministry issued a statement on the situation.
The statement reads: "Currently, fierce fighting is taking place on the front line. As a result of the response measures taken by our units, the enemy, which suffered heavy losses, was forced to retreat. Major General Polad Hashimov and other servicemen on the front line were heroically martyred during the battle. As a result of punitive measures taken by the command to prevent the activity of the enemy, various military equipment, ammunition, command posts, deep reserves, and hundreds of personnel belonging to the enemy were destroyed. As always, the enemy along with aggravating the situation on the frontline continues to fire on our settlements. İt tries to keep the civilian population in the settlements under pressure. Let the people of Azerbaijan know that the units of our army in this direction are able and ready to prevent the enemy's attack. Measures are being taken in this direction. The firing positions in the depths of the enemy were neutralized and supplies were struck."
