Azerbaijani Ministry of Health addresses population due to new virus
The World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan have published recommendations on international travel and trade in connection with the spread of pneumonia over the new coronavirus in China.

A statement sent to Ann.az says:

On December 31, 2019, pneumonia with an unknown etiology was discovered in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province of China. On January 9, the Chinese authorities said a new previously unknown coronavirus is the cause of pneumonia.

The new strain of coronavirus, in the same family as the deadly severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), originated in Wuhan, the largest city in central China. The outbreak has cast a shadow over Lunar New Year celebrations and put the rest of Asia on alert. Virologists around the world are now studying its genome sequence shared by Chinese researchers, but many questions remain.

Researchers have yet to rule out the possibility that the virus could be transmitted from person to person. On Wednesday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a Watch Level 1 Alert -- the lowest of a three-tier travel health notices that warn visitors in Wuhan to "be aware and practice their usual precautions."
