Snowless winter observed in Baku due to climate change: Institute of Geography
A snowless winter is observed in Baku due to climate change and global warming, academician Ramiz Mammadov, director of the Institute of Geography told APA.

He noted that global temperatures continue to rise.

"Moderate weather in the winter months and the lack of snowfall in Baku in February is associated with climate change, there is no other reason. We do feel the negative consequences of this in our lives. Snow is a blessing which on one hand kills bacteria and reduces diseases, and on the other hand leads to water accumulation in highlands,” said Mammadov.

Global warming, of course, has a negative impact on human health, he stressed.

The institute director also touched upon the situation in connection with the water level in the Caspian Sea.

According to Mammadov, there is no serious concern about the water level of the Caspian Sea.

"Although the water level in the Caspian Sea fluctuates regularly, they are insignificant. This is not an extreme situation,” he added.
